Law enforcement divers find car in Indiantown pond where 2 bodies found Monday

INDIANTOWN — Sheriff's investigators found a car sunk in a pond where a man and woman were found dead Monday, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Divers discovered a blue sedan in the water after using sonar equipment from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, sheriff's officials said.

The man and woman who died were discovered Monday morning.

A driver passing by the pond near Southwest Indiantown Avenue and Southwest Warfield Boulevard saw one of the bodies and investigators subsequently found another.

Investigators estimated the man and woman were in the water for at least two days, said Maj. John Cummings.

The man and woman have been identified, but sheriff's officials have not released their names as they still need to notify their families.

Traffic Homicide Investigators with the Sheriff's Office are investigating the case.
