Lawmakers focusing in on Georgians’ mental health
Mental health is getting the attention of Georgia lawmakers.

On Tuesday, local advocates shared their insights with lawmakers at the 32nd annual Mental Health Day at the State Capitol.
They are pushing for more resources to help people who are suffering from mental illness.
The theme for 2023 is: One Georgia, Collaborate and Connect.

“One of the things we need to do is increase our Medicaid payment for mental health workers. So, we can bring in more workforce to help treat people with mental health issues,” Kim Jones said.
According to Mental Health America, Georgia is ranked 48th when it comes to access to care.
