Lawsuit filed against Affordable Fence by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt on Wednesday announced a Boone County lawsuit against Joseph Murray, doing business as Affordable Fence, for unlawful business practices.

Schmitt alleges in the suit that Murray took money from four Missouri residents for fencing installation that never occurred. Combined losses of the homeowners total $18,000, the attorney general's office said.

"My office’s Consumer Protection Section works diligently to protect consumers and root out fraud and scams," Schmitt said in the announcement. "My office will continue to work to be an advocate for Missouri consumers."

Schmitt seeks restitution in all four instances.

Those who believe they are a victim of a construction scam can file a complaint by calling the attorney general's Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-392-8222 or by submitting a complaint online at ago.mo.gov.
