LCTA's 'Stuff the Bus' event a success for Toys for Tots

Dec. 16—PITTSTON — The Luzerne County Transportation Authority's event for the Toys for Tots program was called "Stuff the Bus," and that's exactly what happened.

"The 'Stuff the Bus' event for Toys for Tots was a huge success," said Gretchen M. Wintermantel, Marketing & Communications Director at LCTA. "We don't have a toy count yet, but as you can see from the photo inside the bus, it was stuffed!"

Wintermantel said LCTA collected $3,100 at the event thanks to a hugely generous community. The money allows the Marines to purchase presents for age groups that may not get as many toy donations as others, specifically ages 8 to 13 years old.

LCTA held "Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots" from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Walmart Supercenter on Highway 315, Pittston.

LCTA staff, U.S. Marines, and Santa Claus collected new, unwrapped toys, books, and games, as well as cash donations.

"We know our community is very generous," said LCTA Executive Director Bob Fiume. "This year, donations for children ages 8 to 13 are especially needed, so we are pleased to help fill that gap with our event."
