Lubbock Christian University forward Parker Hicks was named Lone Star Conference men's basketball player of the year and LCU's Todd Duncan was named the LSC coach of the year, conference officials announced Wednesday.

Hicks and Duncan both won the awards for the second year in a row.

The Chaparrals were 25-2 and ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II going into their LSC tournament quarterfinal against St. Edward's on Thursday night in Frisco. LCU won the regular-season title by two games.

Hicks, a 6-foot-6 senior from Decatur, has averaged 19.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season, as well as being named the conference's defensive player of the week six times.

Joining Hicks on the first team was LCU guard Lloyd Daniels, a senior from Colts Neck, New Jersey, who has averaged 16.6 points and 4.9 assists per game.

Chaps guard Aamer Muhammad (15.9 ppg) made the second team, and forward Rowan Mackenzie (11.2 ppg) received honorable mention. Hicks was named to the all-defensive team and LCU guard Aaron Gonzales to the all-freshman team.

The Lady Chaps had six players make all-LSC teams. Allie Schulte was honored on the first team, Ashton Duncan on the second team and Channing Cunyus on the third team. All are senior guards.

Schulte is averaging 12.0 points per game, Duncan 11.0 and Cunyus 8.2.

Senior forward Juliana Robertson and senior guard Laynee Burr received honorable mention, and forward Grace Foster was named to the all-freshman team.

Three players who transferred from Wayland Baptist to Angelo State after last season — guard Payton Brown from Roosevelt, forward Blakely Gerber and forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant — each made the all-LSC third team. Brown was selected for the all-defensive team as well.

Gerber (12.0 ppg), Brown (11.3 ppg) and McGhee-Pleasant (10.6 ppg) are three of Angelo State's top four scorers.

Honorable mentions included Angelo State's Madeline Stephens from Monterey, Eastern New Mexico's Natalie Stice from Tahoka and St. Edward's Lauren Catherman from Monterey.
