Newcomer Reifsnyder grabs County Amateur lead

With all due respect to a talented core group of veteran players who have sustained the tournament's quality over the years, for the Lebanon County Amateur to not only survive but thrive well into the future, it needs some younger talent to step up and contend for the title.

On Saturday, during the first round of the 36-hole tourney at Lebanon Valley Golf Course in Myerstown, Blake Reifsnyder, an early 20s native of Sinking Spring, did his part, firing an even-par 71 to take a three-shot lead into Sunday's final round.

Lurking three shots back after opening with a 74 was former champ Bill Massar, Jr., while 2020 titleholder Justin Arnt was in third, four shots back after and Jon Day was fourth after shooting 76. That quartet will tee off as the final group at 9:48 a.m. Sunday as the 64th annual event, which was without defending champ and tourney vet John DiGiacomo because of illness.

Below is a list of Saturday's scores and Sunday's tee times.
