Le Dîner en Blanc set for September in Indianapolis

Le Dîner en Blanc, the bring-your-own all-white pop-up picnic party, is set to take place in Indianapolis on Sept. 8.

Participants are required to dress elegantly in white from head to toe, and bring gourmet meals, tables, white chairs, stemware and all-white table settings.

Guests indulge in champagne or wine — no beer or hard liquor is allowed — but have to purchase them online through the organization's site. Catered picnic baskets are also available for purchase in advance through the site.

Launched in Paris in 1988 by a group of friends, Le Dîner en Blanc has spread worldwide — organized locally in 120 cities in 40 countries — with participants gathering at a secret location to share meals with friends in pubic spaces.

The annual Indianapolis gathering started in 2018. Last year's Le Dîner en Blanc took place on the Washington Street Bridge with 1,800 guests.
