Leaders of More Than 40 Beauty Brands Have Formed BeautyUnited to Support COVID-19 Front-Line Workers

The efforts beauty brands have been making to help fight the spread of coronavirus and COVID-19 haven't gone unnoticed or unappreciated. A growing number of companies have been making hand sanitizer for medical and essential workers amid shortages, and even more brands have committed to making charitable contributions. Now the leaders of more than 40 beauty and wellness brands are banding together in a special coalition to support those on the front lines of this pandemic.

Moj Mahdara, the founder and CEO of Beautycon, is leading a new organization called BeautyUnited, which has a twofold mission: First, it will support the Frontline Responders Fund, which transports medical supplies like personal protective equipment (PPE) to where those items are needed most by front-line responders, by encouraging small donations that will add up to at least $10 million; second, the brands involved are donating personal-care supplies to front-line health-care workers.

Mahdara is joined by some very familiar names in the beauty and wellness industry, including Gwyneth Paltrow (Goop), Drew Barrymore (Flower Beauty), Bobbi Brown (Evolution_18), Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Rose Inc.), Huda Kattan and Mona Kattan (Huda Beauty and Wishful), Charlotte Tilbury, Barbara Sturm, and Shani Darden. Founders and leaders from other brands are getting their companies involved too, including Violet Grey, Costa Brazil, Summer Fridays, Milk Makeup, the Honey Pot Company, First Aid Beauty, Pursoma, Harry's, Versed, Follain, Unilever, Beautyblender, Supergoop, Youth to the People, Beautycounter, Uoma Beauty, Urban Skin Rx, Arfa, Hiki, Dr. Nigma, Kopari, Ancient Nutrition, Amla Beauty, Too Faced, Lime Crime, Revlon, Vital Proteins, and the U Beauty.

"I stand in solidarity with beauty and wellness founders to mobilize the resources we have to support doctors, nurses, and all the health care workers on the front lines of this pandemic," Mahdara said in a statement. "We are resolved to support in collective actions that can have a big global impact. Now is the time to be united."
