Arena, the newest League of Legends (LoL) game mode, has skyrocketed in popularity among players since its launch, and it looks like it’s here to stay for now.

And while we loved Arena because of its wacky and unpredictable gameplay, map variety and more, the game mode is more fun to play if you choose champions that throw in some really interesting and broken combinations.

If you haven’t dipped your toes in Arena or just simply want to try champion combinations that might be fun to experiment with, we’ve got your back.

Here are 7 of the most broken Arena duos you absolutely must try.

Kha’zix and Mordekaiser

One of the more popular combinations in the list is Mordekaiser and Kha’zix.

Mordekaiser's strengths as a team fighter and potentially one of the game's best ADC-killer make him a solid choice against most champions, but he needs to reliantly land his skillshots, or your chances at winning are close to none.

This is where Kha’zix comes in. With high mobility and tons of damage, Kha’zix can make up for good old Morde’s weakness.

One of the most powerful tricks you can deploy is forcing a 1v1 against one of your opponents through Mordekaiser’s R, the Realm of Death.

This allows Kha’zix guaranteed isolation for one of the enemy champions and deals solo damage on the other opponent.

And if you get lucky and come across the Chauffer augment, which allows you to attach to your ally and “gain 100 Ability Haste and 50 Attack Speed, while they gain 15% Move Speed”, this becomes a sweeter deal for Morde.’

Illaoi and Amumu

This insane combination is so effective it’s both satisfying for the duo and infuriating for the enemy. Illaoi’s passive allows her vessels to spawn tentacles that go for the enemy champion every time Illaoi uses her W, Harsh Lesson.

Her E and her ultimate also cause vessels to spawn tentacles all over the constricted map, so it’s going to be a nightmare for her opponents.

Now pair this with Amumu’s Bandage toss that pulls himself to a champion and stuns them, along with Illaoi’s damage dealing

Another good combination is for Amumu to use his Q on the enemy, followed up by his Curse of the Sad Mummy, and then Illaoi’s Tentacle Smash or Leap of Faith for an annoying chain CC and damage-dealing combination.

It would also be wise to agree if either one of these champions will be full AP or tank, so there’s a balance. Illaoi also becomes extra powerful when she comes across the Thief’s Gloves augment, which gives her a lethality build, which is…well, very lethal.

Karma and Jax

Jax is already a monster on the Summoner’s Rift with his scaling build, and with item building out of the way, he can easily kill other champions in the Arena. Paired with champions that heal and shield, like Karma, he can be unstoppable.

It also helps that Karma is pretty mobile and can quickly escape opponent attacks with an additional 40% movement speed when she uses Inspire to shield herself.

On Karma, choose augments that increase Karma’s healing and shield, like Windspeaker’s Blessing and First-aid Kit, to increase her shield and heal effects.

In case Karma is banned, Jax also syncs well with Tahm Kench, Rell, or Braum.

Annie and Yorick

On a compact map like Arena, Annie and Yorick's synergy can be devastating thanks to their abundance of abilities that lock down and trap their opponents in a catastrophic chain-cc combination.

With both champions, it’s going to be almost 4v2v2v2. Yorick can summon the Maiden of the Mist, who also raises pesky minion-like companions in the form of enemies raised from the dead. Meanwhile, Annie, while she’s pretty small, has Tibbers at the ready to pin down and devour the enemy.

When using Yorick's Dark Procession cage, it's helpful to set the stage with Annie's stun first. As soon as they're confined, both champions become devastating weapons, especially against less mobile champions who can't escape.

You can also watch out for Augments like Infernal Conduit, Thread the Needling and Witchful Thinking on Annie to double up her ability.

Annie also syncs amazingly well with Ivern, which can lead to a 6v2v2v2 chaotic frenzy, especially if you get lucky and get Ultimate Revolution as your Prismatic Augment.

And while Fiora doesn’t give the duo more buddies, the Annie-Fiora combination has also been powerful, with Fiora’s dashes, leaps and blinks, especially when paired with the right Augments.

Heimerdinger and Zyra

Another popular combination is Heimerdinger and Zyra. The early game pressure dealt by Heimerdinger is substantial, and he is extremely difficult to engage or gank.

With his massive amount of damage and utilities, he can easily and often win in 1v2 situations. But his turrets may need to be strategically placed on different maps to avoid being easily destroyed. The same goes for Zyra, who, instead of turrets, places plants all over the map.

On top of this, both champions have pretty oppressive ranged abilities. Zyra can easily poke from a safe distance, deal AoE and burst damage, as well initiate with crowd control abilities. This makes navigating around the small map a nightmare for the enemy.

Do note that while this is a powerful duo, Zyra can be a bit squishy compared to other champions, so it may take a while for you to get used to dodging around yourself.

You can also choose Teemo to go with Heimer to have a similar effect on the map with his shrooms, and you can replicate Zyra’s abilities with Shaco too.

Alistar and Samira

Samira is a powerful and agile champion thanks to her versatility and her ability to dash out of trouble. Samira has trouble team fighting without a reliable source of follow-up engage from her allies. If she goes in alone, the enemy will concentrate on killing her.

This is where Alistar comes in as the perfect duo for this killer ADC. Alistar has a lot of crowd control abilities that can lock down the enemy, while Samira deals multiple blows to them. He can Pulverize, which tosses the enemies in the air, or use his Headbutt to knock back enemies that are becoming a problem for them and more.

On top of this, he is a tank that can absorb more damage than Samira and has a passive heal that can be indirectly useful.

Pick augments that can increase Samira’s AD or Crit, or healing and crowd control augments for Alistar to help Samira manage her 1v1s.

Shaco and Neeko

This combination is both hilarious and effective. Both are some of LoL’s biggest tricksters, so Arena is the perfect setting for them to bring about mayhem.

For one, Shaco dishes out damage relentlessly against enemies, all while having a few tricks up his sleeve. And while Neeko might have a hard time deceiving the enemy in this game mode, her heavy magic damage makes up for it.

With the right augments that add AP and Ability haste for these champions, this duo can be a formidable one.

On top of that, Shaco can create a clone of himself, and Neeko can camouflage into Shaco, which in turn can clone herself. So, imagine having four Shacos in such a small Arena? Chaotic.

These are just seven of the most fun, most wacky, and quite broken duos we’ve discovered, but that doesn’t stop you from discovering the next best duo. What are your favourite Arena champion pairings?
