Lindsay Addison will be the presenter for the Sandbar Lecture: North Carolina's coastal nesting birds, 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 at the Museum of Coastal Carolina, 21 E. Second St., Ocean Isle Beach. Addison will give participants an in-depth look at the nesting birds, touring the coast in photos, looking in on the coastal birds that nest on North Carolina’s beaches and in marshes, such as Brown Pelicans, Great Egrets, and Least Terns.

Addison is a coastal biologist at the North Carolina State Office of the National Audubon Society.

Sandbar lectures are free with museum admission.

Little mariners

North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport presents Little Mariners for ages 4-7. A guardian must accompany the child. Join the museum 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, June 14 on the Southport waterfront. Please bring shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. The cost is $5 per child. Registration is required. Register online at https://ncmaritimemuseumsouthport.com/ or call 910-477-5151.

John E. Jacobs American Legion Post #68

The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post #68 will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, June 15 at the Magnolia Greens Golf Course, located at 1800 Tommy Jacobs Drive, Leland. General meeting at 6 p.m. in the banquet building next to Blossoms restaurant.

The speaker will be John Hacker. He will install the new officers.

Anyone wishing to have dinner at Blossoms Restaurant prior to the meeting, should arrive at 4:45 p.m. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Sunset Beach Sound Waves concert series

North Tower Band will perform top 40, beach and oldies, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at Sunset Beach Sound Waves concert series to be held at the Village Park gazebo, 1791 Queen Anne St. Free.

Oak Island concert series

The Oak Island "Bands by the Beach" concert series will have Old Man Mafia Band playing classics, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 16 at the Middleton Park Amphitheater, 102 SE 47th St. Free.

Ocean Isle Beach Summer Concert

Come to the Ocean Isle Beach Summer Concert, also known as the Peggy Hughes Concert Series, and listen to the Special Occasion Band, 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, June 16 at Town Center Park, 11 E Second St. Free.

Deep Dive into History program

Explore a whole new world with the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology, Underwater Branch. The free Deep Dive into History is a drop-in program designed for all ages. It combines live interpretation, material culture displays and hands-on activities to help visitors understand how seafarers of old explore the world. The program will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, 204 E. Moore St., Southport.

Holden Beach Concert Series

It's time to boogie once again at the Holden Beach Concert Series. Cat 5 Band performs top 40, classic rock and country music, 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, June 18 at the pavilion under the Holden Beach Bridge. Refreshments available for purchase. Bring a chair or beach towel. Free. 910-842-6488.
