Driver of pickup truck injured after hitting semi, which hit cow on I-70 West in Preble County

The driver of a pickup truck suffered minor injuries after rear-ending a semitrailer, which was rendered disabled and left partially on I-70 West at Lewisburg in Preble County after that second driver hit a cow in the roadway Tuesday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Thursday.

Crews were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a semi-trailer about 11:45 p.m., according to OSHP. Before the crashes, crews had received a call about a cow on I-70 in the area of Lewisburg.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital. The semi driver was not injured, OHSP said.

Initial emergency traffic indicates that the semi-trailer hit the cow, causing its brakes to lock up, then was rear-ended by another car, but this has not been confirmed by OSP.

Westbound I-70 was closed at Arlington Road for approximately five hours for the investigation and cleanup.
