A man was killed in a head-on car crash involving a truck in Fayette County.

According to 911, units were called to 1475 Georges Fairchance Road at 12:49 p.m. on Aug. 23.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a Chevrolet Colorado was traveling north and crossed into the southbound lane for an unknown reason. The truck driver saw the Chevrolet heading toward him and began breaking and moving toward the southbound beam.

The Chevrolet hit the truck and both ended up in the southbound lane.

According to state police, the driver of the Chevrolet was unrestrained and had to be extricated from the car. He was taken to Uniontown Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased.

He was identified as 78-year-old John Roderick, from Smithfield.

The second driver wasn’t hurt in the crash.
