Officers and medics were dispatched around 12:46 a.m. to B’s Corner Lounge at the 1100 block of N. Burnett Road on initial reports of a shooting.

Springfield Police received multiple 911 calls about the shooting in the parking lot.

“It sounded like two different guns, like somebody shot three times then somebody shot back twice,” one 911 caller told dispatchers.

When police got to the scene, they found two men who had been shot several times.

Harris was pronounced dead while medics were transporting him to the hospital.

The other victim suffered critical injuries and was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

Donald McDavid, a manager at B’s, was working at the time of the shooting. He told News Center 7 that it had been a “pretty slow” night.

“I had a guy, one of the guys that was a part of the seven people in there smoking a cigarette out front. He ran in and said, ‘They’re shooting,’” McDavid recalled.

He said he saw Harris after he had been shot.

“I was just mind-boggling,” he said.

Springfield Police Sergeant James Byron told News Center 7 that they have been called out to B’s in the past for reports of shots being fired, but this was the first time someone has been killed at the bar.

The shooting remains under investigation.
