At least 7 dead in 2 Oregon coronavirus outbreaks linked to single ‘superspreader’

Two recent coronavirus outbreaks in Oregon are being attributed to the “superspreader action” of one person going to work while sick, according to officials in the Beaver State.

The pair of outbreaks have been traced back to an individual who, according to Douglas County officials, went to work while sick last week and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19, CNN reported Wednesday.

Located in southern Oregon, Douglas County is home to about 111,000 and as of Tuesday has recorded more than 1,300 coronavirus cases and 37 deaths.

“One of those outbreaks has resulted in seven deaths, and the other recent outbreak has placed over 300 people/families in quarantine,” reads a Douglas County government-issued statement from last week.

Officials have not revealed when the ill person went to work sick, nor where they work.
