Rescue efforts continued in parts of northern Italy on October 4, a day after Storm Alex brought strong winds and heavy rain to the region. At least two people, including a volunteer firefighter, were killed, according to local reports.
Roads were washed away and homes isolated as a result of the flooding, the same report said.

Six people were taken to safety, firefighters said, after they climbed onto the roof of their camper to escape high water levels in Vercelli. Clips from the rescue helicopter over Vercelli show the scale of the flooding.
