Lebanon development: Zaxby's submits plans to join Publix, Whataburger lineup on S.R. 109

Plans to build a new Zaxby's as part of a future commercial development on State Route 109 in Lebanon that will be anchored by Publix are moving forward.

The building is projected to be just over 3,800 square feet with 70 seats and drive-thru service, according to the site plan for an outparcel of the Hickory Ridge Shopping Center under construction.

The Zaxby's initial plan was recently approved by Lebanon's planning commission.

Whataburger already has final approval to build a new restaurant at 450 Highway 109 with a target to open in late 2022, according to the company.

Construction continues at the Hickory Ridge Shopping Center site on State Route 109 in Lebanon that will be anchored by Publix.

“We’ve tried really hard to focus on places to eat,” Lebanon Economic Development Director Sarah Haston said about the development. "We’ve worked with the developers to influence the lineup and have put them in touch with potential restaurants.”

The developer is working toward the Publix building being ready in early October, said Mike McGuffin of CHM, LLC. Work on the parking lot should begin in the coming weeks, McGuffin said.

Providence Dental Care has also submitted plans and received initial approval to build near the corner of Highway 109 and Hickory Ridge Road, according to Lebanon officials.

A Wash N' Roll car wash to be built by the Whataburger has final approval, according to city officials.

The sites around the Publix are being developed in coordination with each other, Lebanon Planner Joshua Stahle said.

Retail center to front former Kmart redevelopment site

There are plans to build an 8,000 square foot retail strip center with multiple spaces on West Main Street in front of the Western Plaza Shopping Center redevelopment project, according to Haston.

No tenants have been announced for the future retail center.

The Western Plaza Shopping Center includes the former Kmart building that is part of the redevelopment. Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, Five Below and Buff City Soap are among recent announcements by the city to be part of the redevelopment.

Retail is also being added to the Goodies side of the shopping area, Haston said.

Drinkard Development based in Alabama is redeveloping the site.
