Lebanon library's October plans announced

·3 min read

Oct. 2—The Lebanon Public Library has a host of seasonal fun on tap for October, including a new game for teens, Escape Room.

Teen Librarian Taylor Burger led a group of eager teens through the game rules and introduced them to the game pieces from the brand-new boxed game Thursday afternoon. Teens took turns reading the game premise and other story-type instructions. They were given a fantasy mission in a foreign country.

Commercial escape rooms lock the doors when a team begins play, and the team has to solve the mystery before they can escape. But Burger had the doors wide open at the library and walked through the game with her participants.

She hopes to make the game a regular feature for teens, in addition to monthly regular and seasonal events. Board games are also very popular among teens, she said.

ABC Explorers is a new kindergarten readiness class offered for ages 4-6. Little learners explore the alphabet, focusing on letter recognition, sound and formation.

The library will have fun and silly activities for children during fall break. Stop in for a robot scavenger hunt Oct. 4-9, or an M&M take-home STEM activity Oct. 11-16. And the fun continues with a Halloween scavenger hunt Oct. 25-30.

Teens can stop in for a spooky origami take-home craft Oct. 11-16.

And anyone can trick-or-treat at the library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 and then join in the fun at The Heart of Lebanon's annual Mischief on Meridian from 5-8 p.m. that night around the Boone County Courthouse square.

K-5 STEM Club is geared toward school-age children who love to build and learn.
