The transformation of the old Tangier in Akron continues as The LeBron James Family Foundation prepares to give the public a sneak peek inside later this month.

The foundation says it is planning some activities to celebrate 330 Day at the end of the month and it will include some activities at its House Three Thirty on West Market Street.

Workers have been toiling for months to transform it from the former Tangier restaurant and event space into a new resource place for the foundation's I Promise kids and their families, the community and tourist attraction for visitors.

Part of that work, the foundation announced Thursday, has included the donation of time, talent and even some treasure by mDesign. The Northeast Ohio-based company specializes in storage and organizational products and designs for consumers and companies.

The company tasked some 100 of its designers across the country to help organize the 60,000 feet of space inside of the old Tangier that will cater to the partner's families and the general public.

When it opens it will include the J.M. Smucker HomeTown Hall that will provide a large event and gathering space, the eatery Taco Shop by Old El Paso, a Chase-bank sponsored financial literacy space, a LeBron-themed sports bar, private club The Den by Lobos 1707 and even a LeBron James Museum.

There are other amenities planned, too, including a coffee shop and a specialty store that offers sweets like Mitchell's Ice Cream.

The foundation says mDesign helped organize and design some of the public space but much of the behind-the-scenes areas where partner families will participate in job training from kitchen prep to stocking merchandise to organizing supplies for the restaurant and catering operations.

The foundation has said it hopes to open the House Three Thirty − a nod to the 330 area code − this year and expects to meet that deadline.

The only exception, the foundation says, will be the LeBron-themed sports bar that will open later.
