Ledford Middle School evacuated Wednesday morning due to bomb threat

Ledford Middle School in Davidson County was evacuated for a few hours on Wednesday morning after receiving a bomb threat, according to local law enforcement.

According to Cpt. Mike Burns with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the school received information about a possible bomb threat at approximately 8:30 a.m. and evacuated the students from the building as a precaution. They also contacted local law enforcement to notify them of the threat.

Davidson County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a manual search as well as using K-9 units of the school and determined there was no immediate threat. Students were allowed to return to class by 11 a.m.

A message was sent to parents from the school system around 10 a.m. to keep them up to date on the incident.

"Please know that at Ledford Middle we value your student's safety above all else. We are working in partnership with Davidson County Sheriff's Department to ensure a safe environment is maintained," said the statement.

According to Burns, the source of the information concerning the alleged bomb threat is currently under investigation.
