Lee County: County offices open, trash pickup resuming and other Hurricane Nicole updates
Following Hurricane Nicole's landfall on the east coast Wednesday night, Lee County officials gave the public updates on their operations and shelters.
Here is what's open and resuming operations in Lee County:

Operations:
Lee County offices and locations are open for regular business today.
The Lee County Emergency Operations Center remains activated for hurricane assessment and Hurricane Ian recovery.
Shelters:
County shelters opened in advance of Nicole at North Fort Myers Recreation Center and Estero Recreation Center, which housed 105 residents, 14 cats and four dogs overnight. Shelters will close at midday today.
LeeTran will assist those who need rides to return to the LeeTran transfer stations where they were picked up prior to Nicole.
Roadways:
The Lee County Department of Transportation reports traffic signals throughout the county are working at prior Nicole levels. The county continues post-Hurricane Ian repairs.
DOT asks motorists to proceed with caution on wet roads. DOT crews are monitoring storm drains and roadways to mitigate any localized flooding.
Blue Roof Program:
Lee County Public Safety-Emergency Operations is working with the United Way to collect names and addresses of those who need help re-tarping because of winds from Nicole.
Officials said residents in need of help should call 2-1-1 or 239-439-3900. Public Safety-Emergency Operations staff will help coordinate repairs with partnering entities.
Garbage and debris:
Solid Waste garbage and recycling collection that normally occurs on Thursdays will resume, as the Waste-to-Energy facility in Buckingham is open.
The county’s debris hauler, CrowderGulf, is operating today and will continue collections.
The community meeting that had been scheduled for Gateway residents was postponed and will now be Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Officials noted that despite offices being closed on Nov. 11 in recognition of Veterans Day, regular garbage and recycling collections will happen as will continued Hurricane Ian debris hauling operations.

Libraries and parks:
Lee County libraries are open today; however, the Pine Island Public Library and the Johann Fust Community Library in Boca Grande are closed.
Some Lee County Parks & Recreation sites remain impacted by Hurricane Ian and are closed.
