Michael Adebowale is serving 45 years for killing Rigby

(Metropolitan Police)

One of Lee Rigby's killers, Michael Adebowale, is seriously sick in hospital with Covid-19.

It is understood that he was transferred out of Broadmoor last week after his condition worsened.

Adebowale, 29, is one of two men jailed for the killing of Fusilier Rigby in southeast London in May 2013.

Adebowale and his accomplice Michael Adebolajo, 36, ran over 25-year-old Fusilier Rigby with a car near Woolwich barracks.

The two men exited the car, dragged Fusilier Rigby into the road and stabbed him with knives and attempted to decapitate him with a meat cleaver on a busy street in broad daylight.

Fusilier Rigby died as a result of multiple wounds from the attack, which was partly filmed and made headlines around the world.

An Old Bailey jury of eight women and four men took just 90 minutes to reach its verdicts at trial in December 2013.

Adebowale was later sentenced to 45 years and was being held at Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security facility in Berkshire.

In October 2019, Adebowale was given another eight months after being found guilty of assaulting a nurse at the hospital.

He admitted to punching a healthcare assistant in July of 2018.

Adebowale denied a more serious charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm but admitted an alternative charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The Sun reported that he tested positive for the deadly disease two weeks ago.

The Ministry of Justice said it does not comment on individuals cases.
