Lou Holtz, the 83-year-old college football legend, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Holtz told Columbia, S.C., ABC affiliate WOLO that he was recovering Thursday.

“I don’t have a lot of energy right now,” Holtz said.

Holtz won two national titles in his long coaching career, one at Arkansas in 1977 and another at Notre Dame in 1988. He also spent less than one year in the NFL, coaching the Jets to a 3-10 record in 1976 before resigning prior to the season’s final game. He ended his coaching career at South Carolina.

Holtz has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump, who has downplayed the risks of coronavirus throughout the pandemic.

More than 250,000 people in the U.S. have died from COVID-19, including more than 4,200 in South Carolina.
