Legion/VFW baseball roundup: Kerkhoven slugs its way past Montevideo

Jun. 18—KERKHOVEN — Hunter Kallstrom and Alex Call both hit home runs for Kerkhoven in a 12-2, five-inning American Legion baseball victory Friday against Montevideo.

Kallstrom hit a two-run homer in the second inning. Call, who finished 3-for-3, also hit a two-run homer. His homer came in the fifth, putting the 10-run rule into effect. Wylee Lottman also had three hits with three runs and a pair of RBIs.

Grayson Eisenlohr finished 2-for-3 for Montevideo.

Starbuck improved to 3-0 with the eight-inning victory over the Eastview Thunder of Apple Valley.

Starbuck led 1-0 after six innings. Eastview scored three times in the top of the seventh to take the lead. Starbuck answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Eastview then scored two in the top of the eighth to take a 5-3 lead only to see Starbuck rally for three runs in the bottom of the eighth for the win.
