Here are the legislative districts statewide where candidates will run unopposed

Primary election filings ended in Washington on Friday, after candidates were given a week to submit their bid for elected office.

While some of the state’s 49 legislative districts have a field candidates vying for one elected position, other districts have little to no opposition.

Each district elects one state Senator and two Representatives running for two separate positions. Representatives serve two-year terms, so those positions are filled every even-year election. Senators serve four-year terms, so half of the Legislative Districts do not have Senate seats up for election this year.

Here are the current Legislative Districts with all or mostly unopposed races:

Legislative District 6: Sen. Jeff Holy and Rep. Mike Volz, both Spokane Republicans, face no opposition, but incumbent Republican Rep. Jenny Graham will be running against Democratic challenger Michaela Kelso.

Legislative District 7: Sen. Shelley Short, R-Addy, and Rep. Joel Kretz, R-Wauconda, are running unopposed. Incumbent House Rep. Jacquelin Maycumber, R-Republic, will face fellow Republican challenger Lonny Ray Williams.

Legislative District 9: Incumbent Republicans Rep. Mary Dye from Pomeroy and Rep. Joe Schmick from Colfax are the only candidates to file for the two House positions in their district.

Legislative District 13: Sen. Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, and Rep. Alex Ybarra, R-Quincy, are not facing any opposition but incumbent House Republican Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, has one opponent, fellow Republican Ron Fode.

Legislative District 15: On Monday, 28-year state Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside, pulled his bid for re-election and announced his retirement when his term is over in January. He endorsed Republican Nikki Torres, who will run unopposed for his position. Incumbent House Rep. Bruce Chandler, R-Zillah, faces no opposition for his seat. While incumbent Rep. Jeremie Dufault, R-Selah, no longer lives in the 15th District because of recent redistricting, Republican Bryan Sandlin has filed unopposed for the position.

Legislative District 20: Incumbent Republican Reps. Peter Abbarno of Centralia and Ed Orcutt of Kalama have no opposition for their re-election bids.

Legislative District 33: Incumbents Sen. Karen Keiser, Rep. Tina Orwall, and Rep. Mia Gregerson, all Democrats from Des Moines, are running unopposed.

Legislative District 37: Sen. Rebecca Saldaña, D-Seattle, is not facing any opponents, but House Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos, D-Seattle, has a Republican and a Democrat challenging her for her seat. The other position in the district will need to be filled by a newcomer since Rep. Kirsten Harris-Talley announced her departure earlier this year. Four people — three Democrats and one Republican — have filed for that seat.

Legislative District 43: Incumbent Sen. Jamie Pedersen, Rep. Frank Chopp, and Rep. Nicole Macri, all Seattle Democrats, face no opposition.

Legislative District 48: Democratic Representatives Amy Walen from Kirkland and Vandana Slatter from Bellevue are both running unopposed, but incumbent Sen. Patty Kuderer, D-Bellevue, has Republican opposition from Michelle Darnell.

Candidates had until Monday to withdraw their names from the primary ballot.

Primary elections will be held on Aug. 2.
