Lehigh Acres man walking on Interstate 75 in Charlotte County killed after he's hit by pickup

A 31-year-old Lehigh Acres man was killed Saturday night when he was hit by a car as he walked on Interstate 75 in Charlotte County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man had been walking south in the inside lane of 75 near mile marker 156 at Tuckers Grade shortly after 10:30 p.m.

A 23-year-old Naples man driving a pickup southbound on 75 in the inside lane hit the man.

The Lehigh Acres pedestrian died at the scene. The Naples driver and a 23-year-old female passenger from Tampa suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

The crash closed a portion of 75 southbound for several hours, reopening shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.
