Lehigh University and Bethlehem Police search for missing student Daniel Lee

Authorities throughout Bethlehem are still on the lookout for a Lehigh University student who went missing over the weekend.

According to the university, Daniel Lee, a second-year engineering student originally from East Hanover, New Jersey, has been missing since Friday, Jan. 20. Lee was last seen wearing a grey shirt with red sleeves, black-and-white athletic-type pants, and black sneakers.

No foul play is suspected in Lee's disappearance, and authorities have noted there is no danger or threat to the community that is connected to the incident.

The university, along with the Lehigh University Police Department, the Bethlehem Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, have been searching for Lee and encouraging anyone within the community who may have information that may be helpful in locating him to contact campus safety at 610-758-4200, or by reporting a tip through Hawkwatch.

Bethlehem Police confirmed state police had provided assistance searching for Lee on Tuesday.

"We received assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation (Patrol) Unit with a helicopter that flew over the Lehigh River area and the city, and just east of the city, searching for Mr. Lee. Obviously, we were not successful in finding him," Bethlehem Police Department Captain Nicholas Lechman said.

"Our deepest thanks go out to law enforcement officials who continue to work diligently to locate Daniel, and to everyone in the Lehigh community who has expressed their support and wishes for Daniel’s safe return," the release states.
