Low-key A-listers Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are looking to expand their real estate holdings with the recent purchase of a sprawling three-story, five-bedroom and six-bathroom family home in Pacific Palisades. The couple, who married in 2014, already co-own a $2.4 million property located in the mountains between Malibu and Woodland Hills; their recent $6.5 million purchase is decidedly more coastal, with stunning views that are second only to the impressive “beach chic farmhouse” aesthetic of the home itself (a phrase used in the house’s listing materials).
The home opens onto a long hallway with wide open doorways leading off it into various shared living spaces, including a modern living room immediately to the left. A carved stone fireplace and wood-beam ceiling add charm to the airy interiors, which feature a wall of glass doors along the front of the room that open out onto a lush front garden. A formal dining area just adjacent to the living room boasts a twin modern lighting feature hanging from the ceiling, with an open doorway entrance into the chic kitchen at the back of the home. Built-in, glass-fronted display cases help add a sense of openness to the kitchen, along with the wall of glass sliders that push to one side to reveal direct access to a dining and lounging terrace. A second sitting area just off the kitchen features yet another fireplace, as well as its own wall of glass sliding doors, this time opening out onto an outdoor lounge area with jaw-dropping views of the coastline.
The three guest bedrooms are located upstairs, with a fourth en suite bedroom on the first floor just off the main entrance (it can easily be converted into a home office); the master suite is undeniably a highlight of the home, with a sitting area, a wall of glass sliding doors opening onto a private patio, a walk-in closet, and a master bathroom with a spa-like glass-enclosed shower and separate deep-soaking bath. The lowest level of the home comprises an entertainment/family room perfect for hosting get-togethers and casual hangouts, with a wet bar/kitchenette to help facilitate libations and light bites.
Doors on the lowest level open onto the backyard, which features a stylish, slender swimming pool comprising a spa, a stone-tiled terrace, and a generously proportioned grass lawn. Both Meester and Brody have owned their fair share of Los Angeles–area properties: Meester previously owned a ranch-style house in the Royal Oaks neighborhood that she sold for just more than $2 million in 2015, and Brody previously owned a home in Hollywood that he sold for $1.85 million in 2011. Together, they sold a Hollywood Hills condo earlier this year that Brody had bought in 2002.
