Oct. 8—Beginning Nov. 1, rates for collection, transportation and disposal of waste for the City of Centralia are expected to increase by about 0.58%, a recent letter from Harold LeMay Enterprises reads.

The letter is included in the Centralia City Council's Oct. 12 agenda packet. The increase is expected to be in place for two years.

More information is expected to be provided at the council's meeting this Tuesday at city hall.

Back in August, LeMay Enterprises submitted a COVID cost recovery to the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission to collect additional expenses incurred to "keep the employees safe and to ensure there were no service interruptions due to COVID-19," city documents read.

The state utilities commission approved the new rates Sept. 1.
