Lenawee District Library program to provide insight on growing great vegetables

ADRIAN — A program on how to grow some of the best veggies around will be presented Wednesday, May 24, at the Lenawee District Library in Adrian, featuring an award-winning author and herbalist.

Patrons of the main branch of the Lenawee District Library, 4459 W. U.S. 223, will learn from Bevin Cohen and his decades of growing expertise on such topics as soil health, seed starting and transplanting, mulching and weeding, and when to harvest the perfect produce, flowers and herbs.

There is no cost to attend the program, which begins at 6 p.m., and registration is not required.

Cohen also is the host of the podcast series “Seeds & Weeds,” a news release said.

“When he’s not presenting at libraries, conferences and more across the country, Bevin works with his wife and sons at their family homestead in Sanford, Michigan called Small House Farm, where they harvest produce and create all-natural wellness products,” the release said.

Cohen’s literacy works have appeared in publications such as Mother Earth News and Modern Farmer Magazine. He has appeared several times in Lenawee County, presenting at libraries and other venues.

Copies of Cohen’s books will be available for purchase Wednesday. Book prices range from $20 to $30, the release said, and accepted forms of payment include cash, checks and credit cards.
