Save Me creator and star Lennie James has admitted that he's already thinking about concocting a third season of the hit Sky Atlantic show.

The second season, titled Save Me Too, premiered on Sky Atlantic earlier this month and while speaking to Digital Spy and other media recently, Lennie was asked about his future plans for the series.

"I'm putting it all together, or trying to in my head," he said of a potential season 3, before adding that he's "not quite there yet".

"But yes, I have thoughts about carrying on the story because, as I said, this was always an idea for a returning television series and I don't feel quite that I'm finished with these characters," he continued.

Although this is fantastic news, Lennie did go on to add the caveat: "It's got to be an idea that encompasses all the characters, because it's not just about the continuing adventures of Nelly and his search for his child.

"It's also about what that search or what that journey does for the people around him. So if I can find one that brings the gang together, then absolutely [there'll be a season 3]."

Save Me stars Lennie James as Nelly, a man whose life is turned upside down when his estranged daughter Jody disappears.

Just finished season one? Here's the official synopsis for Save Me Too: "It's 17 months since Nelly Rowe rescued vulnerable young woman Grace whilst searching for his missing daughter Jody.

"Could Grace provide clues to Jody's fate, or will she derail Nelly's desperate quest to find his daughter – with potentially terrible consequences for him and those around him?"

Save Me Too airs on Wednesdays at 9pm on Sky Atlantic. The full series is now available on Sky on Demand and NOW TV.
