Lenoir woman charged with drug trafficking

Jun. 1—NEWTON — The Narcotics Division of Catawba County Sheriff's Office seized 57 dosage units of oxycodone, methamphetamine, and marijuana from a Lenoir woman while executing an outstanding warrant for arrest.

Ryan Marie Smith, 27, Lenoir, was wanted for breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

On Tuesday (May 31), the Catawba County Sheriff's Office located Smith at the Market Basket on N.C. Highway 16 in Conover and placed her under arrest for the outstanding orders.

During that encounter, a search of Smith's vehicle netted the units of oxycodone, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

Smith was charged with trafficking opium or heroin (oxycodone), possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver schedule II controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances on prison/jail premises, possession of marijuana less than one-half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith was jailed under a $59,000 secured bond.
