Lenovo growth flatlines as PC demand slows
STORY: The world’s biggest PC maker just saw its worst growth in over two years.
Lenovo said Wednesday (August 10) that revenue stood at almost $17 billion for the April-June quarter.
That was up just 0.2% on a year earlier.
Lenovo has seen PC demand cool after a lockdown-driven surge.
Its shipments of the devices were down almost 13% according to researchers at Counterpoint.
However, it held onto top spot among PC makers, with almost a quarter share of the market.
The cooling demand for new devices has sparked warnings from firms including Intel and Samsung.
Makers have also faced headaches as a result of fresh lockdowns in China, which disrupted production.
However, Lenovo is enjoying a boom in demand for gadgets besides PCs.
Its revenue from smartphone sales was up by more than a fifth on the year.
The firm has also been targeting servers and information-technology services.
Lenovo’s Hong Kong-traded shares closed the day down around 2%.
