A couple more Lenten specials I've heard about since last week's list:

Mound Grove Golf & Recreation, 10760 Donation Road, Waterford, is offering two pieces of fish (baked or fried), choice of potato, hushpuppies and coleslaw on Fridays during Lent. Appetizers will vary each week, such as lobster cakes, firecracker shrimp, hot wing pierogies and others. Also, Mound Grove will have acoustic music from 6-9 p.m. on Fridays. Reservations encouraged. Call 814-796-2767.

Rosco’s, 4646 Buffalo Road, in Harborcreek Township, is offering shrimp po’boys served with homemade slaw and fresh-cut fries for $15.50, and beer-battered haddock served with homemade slaw and fresh-cut fries for $16.

Jersey Mike’s

The sub places at 6825 Peach St. and 1215 Pittsburgh Ave. are celebrating the company's 13th annual Month of Giving benefitting Shriner's Children's Erie. During March, customers can make a donation at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants.

On March 29, local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100% of the day’s sales to Shriner's Children's Erie.

Ember & Forge

The coffee shop at 401 State St., is offering customers the option of "paying it forward." Their Facebook post reads "So many friends in our community have already benefitted from our pay-it-forward program. Donate a little or a lot, either way your neighbors will feel the love next time they’re in need of a coffee. If you’re able to give, please ask your barista about paying it forward next time you stop in."

So, coffee and giving. What are you waiting for?

Black Monk Brewery

Black Monk Brewery now offers two slushies: The Mudslide, which is espresso and chocolate, now available all the time, as well as a cranberry pomegranate margarita, which they describe as "Slightly tart (cranberry, pomegranate) and citrus." Also, "Due to demand, we will have Mudslide (or a version of it) on at all times."

Bar Ronin

Bar Ronin, West Erie Plaza, recently introduced new menu item: dry aged and roasted duck breast with malted Japanese sweet potato, duck fat roasted red cabbage, confit leg and thigh. Also newish is Japanese butter noodle with smoked parsnip, spinach, crispy chicken skin and crab-urchin butter. Fine diners, start your engines.

Johnson Estate Winery

Johnson Estate began planting Riesling vines, its first European Classic vinifera grapes, in 2008. The pinot noir vineyards were planted in 2012 after owner Fred Johnson and winemaker Jeff Murphy did research and planted three pinot noir clones, each with different and distinctive grape characteristics.

Today, Johnson Estate produces three wines from these grapes: a traditional Germanic pinot noir, dry rosé of pinot noir, and its relatively new brut. And last week, the winery released its most recent vintage of pinot noir.

Also, the winery is participating in the New York Maple Association's spring tapping of maple trees, during which maple syrup producers offer tours of their sugaring facilities as well as pancakes. Johnson Estate produces a maple liqueur and celebrates the season freshly-made French crêpes paired with house-made ground nuts and its maple liqueur. The winery will be offering this delight March 18 and 19 and 25 and 26, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. all days. The pairings are $5 per person (free for Wine Club members) and no reservations are required.
