Leon County paramedic arrested on child pornography charges

A Leon County paramedic was arrested Tuesday on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Joshua Bryson, 35, faces 10 counts of possession of 10 or more images depicting child pornography, according to court records filed in the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Bryson, who has been a licensed paramedic since March 2011, was hired by Leon County Emergency Medical Services in November 2020, said county spokesperson Mathieu Cavell, adding that Bryson's "termination process" began Wednesday.

The investigation began after Dropbox, a file hosting service, issued a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children saying that one of its users uploaded three files containing sexual abuse material, an arrest affidavit said.

In November, a subpoena to Comcast connected the IP address used to login to Dropbox to Bryson's northeast Tallahassee residence, court records said.

The files, which included images of children between 10-14, were soon reviewed by detectives.

On Monday, investigators conducted a search warrant on Bryson's residence off Raymond Diehl Road, the affidavit said. They seized USB drives, external disk drives and SD cards. One flash drive held 44 images and 10 videos of a 12-year-old girl, according to deputies.

Investigators established probable cause and arrested Bryson Tuesday night, an affidavit said. He was then booked in the Leon County Detention Facility, where he remains without bail.

He will hire his own attorney, court records said. His first appearance is scheduled for Friday morning.
