ELKHART — The Lerner Theatre launches its 2023 Kimball Organ Silent Film Series with “Spite Marriage” at 7 p.m. March 30 at 410 S. Main St.:

• “Spite Marriage” (1929, 1 hour, 16 minutes), 7 p.m. March 30: An unimpressive but well intending man is given the chance to marry a popular actress, of whom he has been a hopeless fan. But what he doesn’t realize is that he is being used to make the actress’ old flame jealous.

• Five Laurel & Hardy shorts, 7 p.m. May 25: “The Finishing Touch” (1928, 19 minutes), “Habeas Corpus” (1928, 20 minutes), “Putting Pants on Philip” (1927, 20 minutes), “2 Tars” (1928, 21 minutes) and “That’s My Wife” (1929, 20 minutes).

• “Zorro” (1920, 1 hour, 19 minutes), 7 p.m. Sept. 14: A seemingly idiotic fop is really the courageous vigilante Zorro, who seeks to protect the oppressed. With Wilson.

• “Kid Brother” (1927, 1 hour, 22 minutes), 3 p.m. Nov. 19: A sheriff’s milquetoast son has a chance to prove himself when a medicine show run by con artists comes into town.

Organist Clark Wilson accompanies “Spite Marriage,” “Zorro” and “Kid Brother,” and organist Brett Valliant accompanies the Laurel & Hardy shorts.

The 1924 Kimball pipe organ is one of only three Kimball pipe organs currently installed in its original location. The organ was restored following the 2011 renovation of the theater, which opened on Thanksgiving Day, 1924.
