From ELLE

You can't avoid Letitia Wright. Well, not that you'd want to, but since the actress topped the Bafta's Breakthrough Brits list in 2015, her rise has been meteoric. From that Black Mirror episode to starring in Avengers: Infinity War as well as Black Panther, and a smaller part in Donald Glover's Guava Island, we can't get enough.

Last week, the 25-year-old aattended the Cartier High Jewellery Magnitude gala alongside Lily Collins, Claire Foy, and Iris Law. Luckily, ELLE managed to bag five minutes to chat role models (Rihanna, naturally), go-to designers and her love of cinemas.

ELLE: We're big fans of Black Mirror. What was the weirdest or most surprising thing about working on the show?

WRIGHT: I think the most surprising thing was how Charlie [Brooker] brought so many elements - like social issues and the use of technology - into one story but it all flowed. I liked that a lot. Secondly the weirdest thing for myself was believing the lie that I wasn’t who I was pretending to be - a British girl - then to have an American accent but really I’m actually from London. That was very weird.

Working with Cartier’s on this Magnitude High Jewellery event you get to wear some of the world’s most exclusive jewellery, what would be your dream pieces to own and wear?

The piece that I wore on the night of the Magnitude event - it felt very elegant and yet grabs your attention. Everyone was marvelling at how amazing it looked all night. I learnt so much about the piece and the fact that it was hand crafted made it even more special.

On the red carpet, who are your go to designers at the moment?

It's so hard to pick just one, but I’ve loved what Dior have been doing.

Any favourite British designers?

The lovely Stella McCartney, of course. I wore her all-white suit to the Bafta’s this year, it was a special moment for me. She was so supportive and made sure I looked and felt amazing.

Who are your female role models?

Again, it's so hard to pick! Rihanna is making so many amazing and powerful movements and watching that has inspired me so much. I love Stella McCartney's passion for the environment and making our planet a better and healthier place. She has inspired me to do that same very soon.

What's the best piece of advice you've been given?

Present yourself in the way you want to be received. What I mean is, aim to have humility and everyone will see that and respond to you in this way. Treat others in a positive and loving way.

When you are home and not travelling, are there any places you always try and visit?

Definitely to the cinema. I’m still a movie goer even though Netflix is amazing. I love to go to the cinema- do the whole thing. Grab my popcorn and enjoy.

What else is on your agenda for 2019?

Work, rest and more work!
