LETTER: 2017 Trump inauguration riots lacked the coverage, investigations Jan. 6 received

In reference to the front page coverage of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots in The News Herald, once again we are reminded of the overt bias of Gannett newspapers. The only person killed during the Jan. 6 demonstration was by a Capitol police officer using deadly force against an unarmed woman.

We are still waiting for the congressional investigations and frontpage headlines reporting about true rioting and insurrections beginning in 2016. Within days of Donald Trump's election as president, riots broke out across the country. Tens of thousands of protesters appeared in Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Oakland, Boston, Portland, Philadelphia, Richmond, Dallas, Atlanta, St. Paul, and Pittsburgh shouting “Not my President” as they burned businesses, homes, cars, and injured hundreds of police officers.

The rioting and destruction continued, and on Jan. 20, 2017, rioting by leftists in Washington, D.C., occurred during Trump's inauguration, with 234 arrested for rioting, and six officers needing medical attention.

No investigation, no screaming headlines with coverage taking up three-quarters of page one. Shame on you and an agenda-driven Congress.
