Letter: Abortion equates to misogyny; join Rally for Life Jan. 23

The abortion rights movement is built on a misogynistic premise: That a woman's body itself is oppressive and denies equal rights. The only way for a woman to be "equal" to a man is if she is exactly the same as a man. But equality and sameness are very different things. Men and women are different by design, yet equally valuable in the eyes of God.

Abortion-rights advocates talk about "forced birth" — as if the end of a natural biological process is somehow an outside force oppressing women. But birth is no more "forced" after sex and conception than digestion is forced after eating.

While the abortion-rights movement sees a woman's body itself as oppressive and children as a punishment, God tells us in His Word that the fruit of the womb is His reward. Human beings are created in the image of God, which includes both the lives of unborn babies and a woman's natural ability to gestate new life. Abortion attacks the design and image of God.

Join us at the 2022 Rally for Life at 2 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Monroe County Courthouse to stand against the injustice, violence and misogyny of abortion.
