Dear Alan Dershowitz,

I admire and respect you “bigly.” You have the wisdom of Solomon, the courage of Achilles, the integrity of Edward R. Murrow, the fortitude of Donald J.Trump and a loyalty to principles and U.S. Constitution that makes me proud to be an American. When it comes to free speech and the rule of law, you have taken stand after stand that runs contrary to the beliefs and politics of the political party you continue to embrace. Unfortunately, you also demonstrate a masochistic proclivity in your choice of political allies. And I need to know why!

Please let me explain. You advocate your devotion to a political party whose members have deserted, ostracized and taunted you because your adherence to the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law has caused you to defend Donald Trump across several venues, including one of his impeachment hearings and his right to cast doubt on a potentially rigged 2020 election. (Please note: recent polls have shown about half the electorate now thinks the outcome of the 2020 presidential election is illegitimate. ) You support a party, several of whose members are openly anti-Semitic and support Hamas following its grotesque, Oct. 7 assault on Israelis . You are a strong supporter of free speech, though you’ve been exiled by your elitist, Martha’s Vineyard “friends” for asserting Trump’s right to contest the 2020 election results. And you’ve really ticked off your political allies by espousing the argument that Trump’s possession of classified and unclassified documents at his Mar-A-Lago home was legal and covered under the Presidential Records Act.

You have often claimed you want Trump to run for President in 2024 so you can vote against him; yet, your former political “friends” and allies have deserted you because you wrote a book called “Get Trump: The Threat to Civil Liberties, Due Process, and Our Constitutional Rule of Law” in which you counter all the cases waged against the leading 2024 Republican presidential candidate. In short, by having the audacity to remain loyal to your personal and professional ethics and oaths, you remain loyal to a party that has figuratively chewed you up and spit you out! Again, in your own words, you want Trump to be on the ballot so you can vote against him. This is a wonderful testament to your integrity and your commitment to your principles, but one might question some of your mental decision processes.

Please tell me: What does the current platform of the Democrats offer? Are you seduced by their open border policies that have enabled tens of millions of illegal aliens to invade our country; its fiscal policies and Green New Deal scams that are intended to select winners and losers while weakening the United States economically; its globalist agenda to undermine the sovereignty of America; its profligate borrowing and spending that will heap an enormous debt burden on your children and may result in the destruction of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency; its double-standard system of justice that you, yourself, have portrayed and criticized so well; a foreign policy that has lit fuses in the Middle East, Asia and South America; its weaponization of the Justice Department FBI, CIA, IRS, EPA and most federal bureaucracies to attack ordinary citizens and political opponents who espouse views different from those of the current administration; and last, but by no means least, its substitution of socialism, identity politics, DEI, CRT, etc. to replace such American values as God, family, country, individual responsibility and individual work effort?

Please, Mr. Dershowitz, I must know what makes you want to vote against Trump and for Democrats at all levels of government. Do you think the country is better off now than it was four years ago? Do you think another four years of Biden or any Democratic president will steer this ship in the right direction? Or are you truly a masochist who will vote for the candidate and party that will inflict the most pain on this nation while adhering to a party whose members hate you for honoring your own commitments? Please, please, tell me why you support the Democrats?
