Editor, Register-Mail: Numerous right-wing talkers and politicians have tried their best to defame Dr. Anthony Fauci, a man who has devoted his life to curing infectious diseases. What could be their motivation doing so?

The juvenile tactic of calling the life-saving vaccine the "Fauci Ouchie" is the least of it. Lara Logan of Fox News compared him to the Nazi doctor, Mengele. Sen. Ted Cruz has lobbed groundless attacks on the good doctor. This is simply beyond the pale.

Fauci is a man from a humble background, who was an outstanding student and rose to the top of the field of epidemiology. There is absolutely no basis for their vicious attacks. Fauci may be short of stature, but he is a towering hero in the medical field. — Judith Squires, Sherman Oaks, California
