Letter: Dowe 'focuses on the issues,' deserves re-election to Greenville City Council

We write to support the re-election of Dorothy Dowe for an at-large seat on Greenville City Council.

We have known Dorothy for decades, and she approached her position on Greenville City Council with the same thoughtfulness, energy, focus, and zeal that we have witnessed since we first met her. With the complexities of COVID-19 and the burgeoning needs and demands of our changing city, Dorothy has been the exact kind of leader that we need in that she speaks her mind, even when the political winds blow the other direction.

Dorothy is a vocal and active participant in the difficult and complex work of our city. Given Greenville’s prosperous past and hopeful future, it has never been more important to ensure that we have principled leaders who are informed, who are thoughtful about the needs of our entire community and whose integrity is beyond reproach.

Dorothy Dowe is focused on the issues and needs that really matter to Greenvillians, and she has demonstrated her ability to discern the popular issues of the day from the values and decisions that really matter to our city’s citizens. We are proud to see Dorothy take principled positions to support more affordable housing, on the priority to keep more green space, and on the pressures to define responsible growth in the City of Greenville – growth that includes the preferences and needs of those who live here.

There is much work to be done, and Dorothy is well-qualified to ensure that all of our voices are heard. Please join us to re-elect Dorothy Dowe for an at-large seat on Greenville City Council.
