Letter to the Editor

I look forward to serving you, Charlevoix County

During the election, I campaigned on a promise to act as a conduit of information to you and to establish strong lines of communication between the county, cities, townships and village.

One step toward fulfilling this goal is to maintain a Charlevoix County update column that will appear in the Charlevoix Courier and Petoskey News Review on a monthly basis. I want to keep you informed of the discussions we are having at the county level, various issues we are attempting to address, and what options we are considering which should help citizens voice their opinions, their support, or their concerns about the issue at hand.

Another step toward fulfilling my promise is ensuring that all stakeholders are at the table when addressing issues. Reaching out to our city, township and village leaders will enable us to better coordinate our efforts to more efficiently and cost effectively address housing, recycling, transportation and health care to name a few.

The more perspectives we have informing our decisions, the better decisions we will make. So please feel free to reach out with your questions, concerns or ideas on whatever issues you may have. And lastly, it is my intention to ensure that our needs are heard and addressed in Lansing. Meeting face-to-face, building relationships with various agency heads and staffs, and being that squeaky wheel will hopefully generate the grants and funding we need in our county.

Building on the success of our local officials, heeding their advice, and fighting for our needs is the goal. I am truly honored to serve you as the Commissioner for District 6. I look forward to working together for the betterment of our communities. Please feel free to reach out to me with your comments, ideas or concerns.
