Levy important in securing what it means to be General

I am a proud (very proud) 1991 graduate of Sheridan High School urging residents to support the operating levy.

Why?

While I no longer live in the community that I still love, I do have many family members and friends who do. And, I want everyone, your children and grandchildren, to have the same amazing experience and opportunities I had. And besides, in my heart, I am #AlwaysAGeneral. In my search for a school district for my own children, I wanted to make sure that I found a place as similar as possible to Northern Local.

What does it mean to be a General?

It means tradition, family, commitment, hard work and sacrifice. I experienced this before I even started school, when I wore my first Sheridan Generals T-shirt, that was likely handed down from one of my cousins. I felt it at pep rallies when my favorite cheerleaders and football players visited Glenford Elementary. I learned it from my family and teachers like Mrs. Raab, Mrs. Spohn, Mrs. Henderson, Mr. Rupe and Mr. Taylor. I saw it at every awards banquet and sporting event. Being a General is a way of life and, if you’re lucky, you carry that with you wherever you go.

Being a General requires a lot of responsibility. In order for the district to maintain the level of commitment to education and extracurricular activities, to maintain the strong traditions it is known for, the community has to show its commitment and responsibility to the district. Until the legislature finds a better way to fund public schools, community support is essential.

What would you be willing to do to make sure your kids, grandkids and friends’ kids get the same or better opportunities than you had?

All you have to do is vote yes.
