Letter to the editor: Both liberal and conservative media have lied to the American public

Apparently, the writer of the Repository letter to the editor with the headline "Is Fox News real news?" (May 7) doesn't understand what hypocrisy is. He states that "If you are looking to get your news from Fox, you must not care about being informed, just manipulated." That is utter nonsense and hypocritical.

Perhaps the writer hasn't heard how CNN, MSNBC and the major liberal networks he favors promoted the false narrative of collusion between Russia's President Putin and President Trump for years? This narrative was proved wrong by both the Mueller Report and the recent Durham Report. Fox didn't promote that lie. What was the cost of that lie to the American taxpayer and to our democracy? The cost was immeasurable, which by definition means too large, extensive, or extreme to measure.

Perhaps the writer hasn't heard about the Hunter Biden laptop fake Russia disinformation story promoted by the liberal media for the last four years until they were proved wrong. Fox didn't promote that lie. I could go on and on with the lies that the liberal media has promoted the last seven years.

What the writer needs to understand is that both liberal and conservative media have lied to the American public. Neither has a monopoly on lying.

However, the writer was right that we should all — liberals and conservatives — miss Uncle Walter (Cronkite).
