Letter to the editor: Build a bridge, not a tunnel, at Fulton
Regarding the story “Price Tag for Fulton Tunnel up 47%” on Jan. 21: I hope that the Stark County Park District Board of Directors, Ohio Department of Transportation, Jackson Township and Jackson Local Schools will pause and take a step back to brainstorm. Why does this project have to be a tunnel? I have no skin in this game. But, I honestly believe that a pedestrian and bicycle bridge would be a more cost-effective solution.
The entrances on either end could be those circular ramps, like those seen in some professional sports stadiums. The bridge structure will open up the possibility of a source of funds from advertising signs on both sides.
I may be an outsider to this situation, but I just hate to see money wasted.
