Letter to the editor: Canton LWV offers nonpartisan mayoral forum

We at the League of Women Voters of the Canton Area are pleased to see public interest gearing up for the primary elections on May 2.

We believe candidate forums are an excellent way for voters to get to know people on the ballot. That’s why we will hold a forum for all candidates for Canton mayor on April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Timken Commons, 521 Tuscarawas St. W. Parking and entrance are off of Fourth Street NW.

Unlike some other mayoral forums this year, the League event includes all candidates from both Republican and Democratic parties and is free and open to the public. The audience will have the opportunity to present questions to the candidates.

The League continues to stress the importance of learning about candidates and ballot issues. We are nonpartisan; therefore, all Canton mayoral candidates are invited to explain why they are running for office and their positions on issues they believe are most important to good local government. We hope you will join us on April 13.

Carol Canavan, North Canton

Co-President, LWV of the Canton Area
