Congrats to all of you who pushed your representatives on City Council to get that convention center hotel on the ballot for November. Your voices have been heard! I’m sure you’re happy that all your phone calls, email messages and letters to your City Council members persuaded them that we must have that hotel.

There must be hundreds or maybe thousands of you clamoring for it because as representatives of the people they wouldn’t do that on their own, would they? They have obviously bent to the will of their constituent multitudes. You guys must have inside information that all those conventions in San Antonio and Houston will cancel their reservations, change their plans and rush down to our cul-de-sac north of Mexico to stay in a shiny new convention center hotel.

And you must have convinced them with all your marketing data and profit/loss forecasts because, you know, you don’t want to trust something like this to city politicians and administrators who just say we have to compete with those other cities that have one. Please share your information with those of us who aren’t in the know so we can vote for it in November, because frankly I think it makes as much sense as dumping desalination plant sludge into our beautiful bay.

Oh, and be sure to remind us that we won’t actually see the word “hotel” on the Prop A ballot but that it was included in the council’s resolution. (No need to add unnecessary words.) Thanks!
