Letter to the editor: More guns won't solve the problem of gun violence

The Ohio Legislature and Gov. Mike DeWine continue to fantasize that the solution to gun violence is more guns. On June 13, Ohio's concealed-carry law for handguns without any required training or license became law.

On that same date, House Bill 99 allowing school boards to authorize teachers to have guns in school with less than a reasonable minimum of training also became law in Ohio.

Welcome to the Wild West, when gun duels were commonplace on Main Street. Hopefully, 100% of school boards in Ohio will recognize the fallacy of this approach and refuse to authorize it. A few years ago, there was a popular expression in education: "Less is more." In this case, more (guns) is more (violence).

I am a retired teacher, and I am glad I'm retired.
