Letter to the editor: Is this really the Republican Party?

Oftentimes, if you listen, people will tell you who they really are. By inviting Viktor Orban to speak at their convention on Aug. 4, CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) and the Republican Party are telling us exactly who they are. Orban promotes a white, anti-LGBTQ, Christian Nationalist agenda. And those in attendance seem to be fine with this. Republican leadership has not expressed an ounce of outrage.

If you are a Republican or vote for any Republican, you are telling us that you are going along with this behavior. If you aren’t in line with CPAC, then by all means speak out. Please don’t tell me that you really don’t like the optics of things like this, but you like other policies of your party. I used to vote for the best candidate, regardless of party affiliation. But a line has been crossed.
