Sandusky Bay needs a second bridge again

I have an idea for the Sandusky Bay area that I feel is worthy of discussion, however I don't know where to go to move it forward. Perhaps your publication or readers can help make it a reality.Just north of the Edison Bridge (Ohio 2) is a causeway that was once a road (Ohio 269 bridge) that connected Bay View to Marblehead (Danbury Township). This causeway is presently used for fishing. I propose a pedestrian bridge once again connecting these two points. While this span appears to be about 0.3 mile, it would replace what is now a 42-mile journey by foot or bike.

For someone who resides in Marblehead, this makes a bike ride to Sandusky or Cedar Point quite doable. Likewise, someone in Bay View could easily reach Marblehead or the Kelley's Island Ferry with a short bike ride. This 42-mile alternative is due to the fact that there is no foot or bike traffic allowed on the Edison Bridge.I have contacted a local and national bike groups and numerous politicians pertaining to this idea but have only received silence or lip service.

I understand that bridges are not cheap to build but feel this wouldn't be too costly: the span is only about 3/10ths of a mile and the water appears to be about 4 feet deep, plus it would only have a light load on it.With all the funds available from the Infrastructure bill, could this idea become a reality? I am reaching out to the public for any assistance I can find. Is there anybody out there that feels that this is a project worth putting forward? Where does one start?Bill Marconi
